Journalists are appalled and confused that people no longer trust or like them. Many Canadians are straight-up pissed.
A journalist from Global News was hurt by the public’s backlash. He had spent the last 2 years toeing the party line, and not looking into any criticism on vaccines, masks, or lockdowns. “I just did as I was told, so why are they so mad?” questioned Barry through teary eyes. It would seem that the history of journalism is giving this new breed of new-age reporters a bad name. There was a time when journalists worked for the public, questioning authority and investigating those in power to keep people safe from tyranny and government overreach. “Now they expect it! Instead of just being grateful that we’re giving them something to read while they’re waiting for their 5th booster.” sobbed Barry.
The media historically was an extra safety net between citizens and the government, a noble role that required integrity and discipline to hold the trust of the people. A role that was often at odds with premiers and prime ministers simply to keep everyone honest.. but this is 2022, and the government control of lockdowns, mandated injections of a gene therapy labeled as a vaccine. A gene therapy that doesn’t stop transmission or keep you safe from feeling the effects of covid is all par for the course. Not to mention the Canadian government using backdoor tactics to push through bills to disarm the nation. Using green initiatives to stifle farmer food yields, using mandates to divide Canadians along with identity politics, and pushing through bill-c11 that will allow the government to filter what we see on social media and streaming sites, and also introducing a new digital ID system that allows the government to know where you are at all times as well as what you are purchasing and is curiously a lot like the social credit system China uses.
People would think if there was ever a time for historical journalism it would be now. Rebel news is trying to bring back that prehistoric practice but our Prime Minister doesn’t see them as a real news organization because they ask questions instead of listening and printing. So the people shouldn’t be angry, they should be accepting that journalism is now a printing press for the party. Just like it is in Russia and China.. and look how well they turned out.
