Our government here in Canada along with what we’ve seen with other liberal parties across the globe have adopted identity politics. This allows the party to sit on top of a high horse of moral superiority, they are the self-appointed voice of any group that is considered marginalized and demands change. On the surface this sounds great, I believe as a human race we can agree that hating a people because of their race, gender, or sexual identity is crazy and people that do so are social pariahs. Everyone should feel safe and enjoy the rights and dignity that our western world allows. However, governments use this type of compassion politics as a weapon.
It has become a custom for liberal politicians to call dissenters or people on the other side of the aisle bigots, racists, or sexists.. because it’s an easy way to get someone on the back foot. If two politicians are arguing and one makes a point, and then the other twists their words to make them sound offensive and bangs out a terrible accusation; the first politician is automatically pushed into a defensive stance about something completely off point. We see this in everyday social media discussions, someone says something about how they don’t like children getting their reproductive organs removed because a teacher tells them they may be trans and then the internet throws out a broad-brushed sweeping term meant to shut down discussion on a very important issue. It’s the ultimate shut the fuck up move. Now everyone is looking at the person instead of the point they are making, and anyone that agreed with their point is now afraid to say anything as they too will be labeled a transphobe. Shutting down the discussion, no one learns anything, no middle ground was met and both sides go back to their echo chambers.. one to seethe and the other to report a victory.
This tactic is single-handedly taking down the peace in our democracy, the use of the STFU maneuver does nothing but make people feel completely muted. People using this maneuver believe they are in the right so any dissent is evil, it doesn’t help that liberal governments use the tactic to also demonize conservatives. Employees working in social media corporations are proud to censor conservative voices.. but these companies aren’t gaming companies they are the forums of our countries and what they are doing is socially narcissistic. How can someone think that their view is so infallible that they need to censor dissent for the sake of the social community? It’s stopping the progress, progressives are looking for, we need to debate discuss and hash these things out to find a middle ground and grow as a society. By stopping this discussion they are sabotaging our democracy and leaving us vulnerable to manipulation.
Here in Canada, we are the poster child of a Prime Minster using identity politics to stop dissent while he keeps taking away our rights and pushing us deeper and deeper into a globalist agenda. Our government owns the media, so it goes unchecked. He can paint any picture he wants to and unless Canadians are willing to stop reading the propaganda we are completely lost. Using a compassionate cause to push your agenda is evil, and our government is terrific at it.
Today, we have to start every sentence that may be offensive with a disclaimer of our intentions, we are self-censoring our speech.. this is a very dangerous path. It’s time for us to be brave, to fight back with unflinching progression. If someone wants to label you something for your opinion let them but don’t allow them to throw you off your point, make sure they hear it. Speak out about all of it, you know it isn’t right, do not allow yourself to be stifled. We live in a democracy, our right is to be able to say how we feel and not be persecuted and if our governments do not champion that message they are not working for the people. Stay strong.
