A few years ago Trudeau spoke about his admiration for China and its “basic dictatorship”. He also remarked on how this dictatorship allowed the to turn their economy around and push green initiatives. Some may argue that you can push any initiative if you enslave your people with a dictatorship, but I’m not a dictator-scientist.
After hearing about Trudeau calling in the emergency act (an act used to fight terrorism) on a peaceful protest, in which a police force came in and forcefully removed protesters and then froze the bank account of Canadians who donated money to what they deemed a worthy cause. China is pretty impressed. They were also pleased to learn that the Trudeau government owns the CBC, and the state-owned media company will attack anyone who goes against the party’s agenda. The party also pumped out hundreds of millions to the other media companies to make sure they also would toe the line. The only independent news organization left, is rebel news and they simply do not let them ask questions or investigate corruption. A brilliant move for any dictator hoping to keep his subjects in check.
To hedge his bets Trudeau also created bill C-11 which will allow the government to control what Canadians see online, allowing for that last bit of control necessary to keep everyone in the dark. When China heard about bill C-11 they were blown away. “I think we can learn a thing or two from this young authoritarian” a China party member joked.
